چکیده

This paper presents an agent-based sealed-bid design for multi-issue negotiation in an incomplete information setting. The information of both agents is considered completely private. In our agent-based model, each agent builds a multi-dimensional fuzzy satisfaction set for the attributes of a commodity using fuzzy linguistic terms. The issues relating to an offer are divided into two categories (i.e., quantitative issues and qualitative issues). At each time-step of the negotiation, both agents submit a combined offer of quantitative issues for each discrete value of qualitative issue to the mediate agent simultaneously. This method offers flexibility for the agents represent their satisfaction for the combinations of different attributes using a multi-dimensional membership functions, taking into account the interdependencies between the attributes. In addition, using the proposed method of calculating agreed-price, agents can be stimulated to reach an agreement as early as possible. Therefore, this method may shorten negotiation process, which is desired for both parties. And the design can discourage counter-speculation and effectively control fraud and misrepresentation in a certain extent. Through a case study, the capabilities of the proposed method are illustrated.

Bidding in sealed-bid and English multi-attribute auctions

In this paper we consider an extension of the traditional auction mechanism, the multi-attribute auction, which enables negotiation on several attributes in addition to the price of the item. In particular, we consider a procurement auction in which the buyer is the auctioneer and the sellers are the bidders. Such domains include auctions on task allocation, services, etc. We focus on three auc...

Comparing Open and Sealed Bid Auctions: Evidence from Online Labor Markets

O labor markets are Web-based platforms that enable buyers to identify and contract for information technology (IT) services with service providers using buyer-determined (BD) auctions. BD auctions in online labor markets either follow an open or a sealed bid format. We compare open and sealed bid auctions in online labor markets to identify which format is superior in terms of obtaining more b...

Developing a Fuzzy Multi-attribute Matching and Negotiation Mechanism for Sealed-bid Online Reverse Auctions

Online reverse auctions have benefits in reducing business purchasing costs and lead times. Previous research focused on developing new mechanisms for open-cry and multiple rounds of auctions, which is not appropriate for direct goods purchasing. Moreover, the implementation issues in the web-site design are not considered. We construct an easily-computed fuzzy multi-attribute matching mechanis...

Simulation of a Multi-agent Protocol for Task Allocation in Cooperative Design

To achieve high performance in agent-based cooperative design, the effective allocation of design agents to distributed and cooperative design tasks becomes a crucial issue. This research extends the well-known contract net protocol for decentralized task allocation in cooperative engineering design. Since the contract net protocol only provides a generic framework for agents to exchange and ev...

Bid Evaluation and Selection in the MAGNET Automated Contracting System

We present an approach to the bid-evaluation problem in a system for multi-agent contract negotiation, called MAGNET. The MAGNET market infrastructure provides support for a variety of types of transactions, from simple buying and selling of goods and services to complex multi-agent contract negotiations. In the latter case, MAGNET is designed to negotiate contracts based on temporal and preced...
